When operational, the UPM Paso de los Toros pulp mill together with forestry, wood and pulp logistics and other related activities will altogether create around 10,000 new permanent jobs, of which 4,000 will be directly employed by UPM and its subcontractors.
In addition, 600 new companies are estimated to be working in the value chain reaching from tree seedling nurseries to pulp logistics.
In the most intensive construction phase, there will be over 6,000 persons working on the mill site. These estimates are based on studies done by the consultancies Deloitte and CPA Ferrere.
Registration for jobs in Uruguay is available in the public platform Vía Trabajo. It is open for individuals interested in the jobs as well as for companies who intend to hire staff.
